Riding an electric bike is quite different from your average “push bike”… each bike has a battery which holds up to 10 hours charge which powers an electric motor which assists your cycling power at different levels – all controlled by you!
For the motor to assist you do have to be cycling – electric bikes are not mopeds! You are still required to push those pedals round in order for the motor to work but depending on how steep the hill, how tired you are or how fast your cycling partner seems to be gliding along you can adjust how much the motor helps you – and no one will know…
Riding an electric bike allows you to ride for longer than you might do usually or on terrain that you wouldn’t normally tackle and the sensation is unlike anything else so why not think of renting one to give it a whirl?
P.s. they are currently banned in competitive cycling!
